‘Don’t divorce your husbands; I was joking’ — Yobe APC Chair apologises

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Muhammad Gadaka, has withdrawn his controversial statement suggesting that women should divorce their husbands if they prevent them from voting for the APC in the 2027 elections. Gadaka apologized, clarifying that the remark was made as a joke and not intended to encourage divorce. He had made the comment during a political gathering in Nangere Local Government Area, where he also offered to pay dowries for affected women.
