Okonjo-Iweala, US Lawmakers Excited as Trump Signs Two-year Extension of AGOA

The Director General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and some members of the US Congress have expressed excitement over the signing of a two-year extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) by President Donald Trump. The extension comes after the enabling law expired on September 30, 2025. Nigeria is among the 32 African countries that benefit from AGOA, which provides duty-free treatment for imports from eligible nations. Okonjo-Iweala expressed her delight on X, thanking Congress, the Administration, and all who worked to make the extension possible.
