The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has installed Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, a former Group Managing Director and CEO of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, as the new Balogun of Oyo. The ceremony took place at the Alaafin's Palace on Saturday, with dignitaries and indigenes in attendance. Adeduntan succeeds the late Dr. Victor Olunloyo, a former governor of the old Oyo State. The Alaafin described the Balogun title as one of the most revered offices in the Oyo Empire, historically responsible for leadership and defence of the kingdom.
