NCDC: Borno, Kano, Plateau, Five Others Account for 98% of Confirmed Diphtheria Cases in Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has reported that eight states, including Borno, Kano, and Plateau, account for 98% of confirmed diphtheria cases in the country. The affected states are Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Borno, Bauchi, Plateau, Sokoto, and Zamfara. About 68% of the confirmed cases were unvaccinated. In response, the Plateau State Government has ordered the temporary closure of primary and secondary schools to contain the outbreak.
