Edo govt shuts unregistered hospital after 10 years of operation

The Edo State Healthcare Regulation and Monitoring Agency (EDOHERMA) has shut down Jess Royal Hospital in Benin City for operating without registration for over 10 years. The agency's CEO, Dr Adesuwa Urhoghide-Edigin, said the hospital was neither registered with the state Ministry of Health nor EDOHERMA. It was discovered during a monitoring exercise at an orphanage in the same building. The owner reportedly admitted to not being registered with the state government.
