Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi has appointed a new Emir of Gumel, Mr. Lawan, who succeeds his late father, Ahmed Muhammad-Sani. The late emir passed away on Thursday, 3 September, after reigning for 46 years. The appointment was made in accordance with the state's emirate council law. The new emir's reign begins immediately.
