Former President Goodluck Jonathan bid farewell to ex-Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma, who returned to his country after spending more than two years in Nigeria. Koroma had fled to Nigeria in January 2024 after being charged with treason over the November 2023 attacks in Freetown, but the charges were dropped two months ago. Jonathan described Koroma's departure as a significant moment for reconciliation and renewed hope in Sierra Leone, and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to provide him with friendship and support.
