OpenAI's chief scientist, Jakub Pachocki, has called for a slowdown in AI development, warning that no one is prepared for the consequences of rapid advances in machine intelligence. In a blog post, he expressed concerns that autonomous agents could evade human oversight, break into systems, and manipulate people. He advocated for mandatory safety standards enforced by external groups, in addition to internal technical measures.
