Iran's top negotiator has threatened a more forceful response to any further US attacks, following Tehran's targeting of American warships. The exchanges of fire began with US raids last week, amid a deadlock in the six-month war between the two foes. Iran maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz, while Washington enforces a counter-blockade and sanctions to pressure Iran economically. Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that 'the era of proportionate responses has come to an end' and warned of faster, more intense, and more painful responses to any aggression.
