The Police Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Ikoyi, Lagos, has launched an investigation into alleged fraudulent activities amounting to billions of dollars in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. The probe was initiated following complaints from concerned citizens and intelligence reports suggesting one of the largest scams in the industry. In one case, an anti-corruption group petitioned alleging contract padding of over $90 million. Sources indicate that some individuals are attempting to obstruct the investigation, including filing petitions against the Commissioner of Police and his officers, while the team has reportedly resisted bribery attempts from a major participant in the alleged fraud.
