The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) has raised alarm over the illegal trade in vulture parts, which is driving the birds toward extinction. NCF Director General Dr. Joseph Onoja highlighted that Nigeria is a key hub for cross-border vulture trading, as identified in the West African Vulture Conservation Action Plan. He called for urgent coordinated action, noting that vulture killing for belief-based use has been reported across 16 countries. Onoja stressed the importance of vultures for ecosystem health.
