The market capitalisation of 12 banks listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) has surged past N28 trillion, reaching N28.4 trillion as of August 2026, up from N16.12 trillion in December 2025. This represents a 56.8 per cent year-to-date growth, driven by impressive corporate earnings and increased investor demand. The banking sector's market capitalisation now accounts for about 18.03 per cent of the overall NGX market capitalisation. The growth was led by stock price appreciation in First Holdco, Zenith Bank, and nine other banks.
