Bandits have killed at least 13 people and forced residents to flee 15 villages in southern Katsina State, despite a community-initiated peace accord with the attackers. The attacks, which occurred in Bakori, Funtua, Faskari and Dandume local government areas, have disrupted farming and trading activities, leaving residents fearful of returning. In Bakori Local Government Area, three people were killed and several others sustained gunshot wounds when bandits invaded communities in Jargaba and Kandarawa wards. Some families have become too impoverished to pay ransom for relatives abducted by the bandits.
