The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, has seized illicit goods valued at N3.951 billion, including psychotropic substances and four high-grade mercury cylinders. Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, while handing over the items in Lagos, emphasized that the seizure demonstrates a commitment to public safety. He stated that the illicit movement of cannabis sativa and other controlled substances poses a serious threat to public health, national security, and the future of young people. Aliyu also noted that such substances fuel addiction, criminality, violence, and other social problems, highlighting the importance of strategic partnerships in combating smuggling and transborder crime.
