The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reported a 12.3% increase in cargo throughput and growth in vessel traffic, container movements, and vehicle traffic in the second quarter of 2026. The NPA attributed this development to various reforms introduced by the Federal Government in the maritime sector. The NPA Operational Performance Report for Q2'26 revealed overall improvement in operational activities, with most key performance indicators recording positive growth. NPA Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho commented that the increase in cargo volumes and ship calls underscores the resilience of the nation's seaports in facilitating trade and enhancing competitiveness.
