Costco closes its US stores on seven holidays each year, a policy that stands out among national retailers that typically close on only two. The company's CEO, Ron Vachris, stated that the closures are intended to allow employees to spend holidays with their families and friends. Former CFO Richard Galanti noted that the financial cost of closing was never a consideration in the decision. Despite the closures, Costco continues to offer holiday sales promotions, but customers cannot access them in warehouses on those days.
