Several automakers, including Hyundai, Genesis, Ram, Jeep, Ford, and Volkswagen-backed Scout Motors, have announced plans to produce extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) by the end of 2028. Industry analysts suggest that EREVs address consumer concerns about charging infrastructure while offering the benefits of electric driving. The move reflects a broader industry bet on this technology as a transitional step toward full electrification.
