Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has assisted migrants who disembarked in distress on West African shores during the last week of August. Teams in Mauritania and Senegal provided medical care, essential items, and emergency mental health support to 1,046 survivors of attempted boat crossings. The migrants had departed from The Gambia heading for the Canary Islands before being rescued and brought to shore.
