The Bentiu Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp Court in South Sudan opens today, September 7, 2026, to strengthen access to justice. The court is supported by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in collaboration with the Unity State Government, the Judiciary of South Sudan, and the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. It will operate until September 26, 2026, hearing cases related to sexual and gender-based violence, drug abuse, and gang violence. The deployment responds to community requests for stronger justice mechanisms in the camp.
