South Africa's Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Velenkosini Hlabisa, has welcomed the adoption of the Code for Ethical Leadership in Local Government by 100 municipalities across the country. The minister described this as a positive step towards ensuring ethical and accountable leadership in municipalities. The code was developed by the Local Government Ethical Leadership Initiative, a partnership involving The Ethics Institute, the Department of Cooperative Governance, the South African Local Government Association, and the Moral Regeneration Movement. It was launched at a summit held in Gauteng on 1 March.
