The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee has set a September 20, 2026 deadline for dealers to stop selling sachet gin or face legal consequences. This follows a meeting with representatives of the United Beverages Dealers Association and the Edo State Sachet Alcohol Beverages Distributors Association, who had appealed for an extension of the initial September 7 deadline to December 30, 2026. The committee's decision is based on the enforcement of NAFDAC's ban on sachet drinks. The statement was signed by the committee's chairman and coordinators.
