A 54-year-old Customs officer, Mr. Etteng Ise, died in a lone motor accident along the Ikom-Calabar Highway in Cross River State. The incident occurred near Alesi Village in Ikom Local Government Area at about 2:56 p.m. on Monday. According to the police, Ise lost control of his vehicle while avoiding a pothole, veered off the road, and collided with a tree. He was rushed to Holy Family Hospital, Ikom, where he was confirmed dead, and his remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary.
