Former ANPP members demand APC’s 2031 presidential ticket

Former members of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) have demanded the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2031 election. They argue that fairness and equity among the legacy blocs that formed the APC require that the ANPP bloc be considered for the presidency after President Bola Tinubu's tenure. The demand was made in a communiqué issued after a meeting in Abuja on September 7, 2026. The former members noted that the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc produced former President Muhammadu Buhari for two terms, and the current president emerged from the former Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) bloc.
