The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Benue State, Chief Michael Aondoakaa, has said the party has the capacity to make a sitting governor lose the 2027 governorship election. In a veiled reference to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Aondoakaa said the people will decide whether the incumbent deserves another term. He dismissed arguments that no sitting governor has lost re-election in Benue, insisting that the law only guarantees a governor four years. Aondoakaa attributed his confidence to the incumbent administration's poor accessibility, insecurity, and uneven distribution of resources.
