Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized the federal government's domestic borrowing under President Bola Tinubu, describing it as dangerous fiscal indiscipline. In a statement, Atiku noted that the government continues to borrow heavily despite crude oil prices rising above the benchmark used for the 2026 budget. He argued that this borrowing starves Nigerian businesses of credit, kills jobs, and worsens the cost-of-living crisis. Atiku's comments were issued through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu.
