FG Unveils Measures to Curb Air Pollution as Experts Warn of Rising Health Risks

The federal government has unveiled measures to tackle air pollution, including a national framework for vehicular and generator emissions testing and expansion of air-quality monitoring stations. Minister of Environment Balarabe Abbas Lawal announced these plans at the 2026 International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies commemoration in Abuja. The government also aims to implement the National Clean Cooking Policy to achieve universal access to clean cooking energy by 2030. The event gathered stakeholders from government, development partners, and civil society.
