A high-level parallel session in Bujumbura on August 11 emphasized that Africa cannot achieve sustainable peace without the full participation of women and young people. The session, part of the 5th Continental Dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security and the Women, Peace and Security Forum, focused on intergenerational voices in peace negotiations and access to justice. Participants, including political leaders and women's rights defenders, shared experiences and identified barriers to women's leadership. The discussion aimed to explore concrete pathways to strengthen women's roles in peace and security processes.
