The Chief of Staff of the ECOWAS Standby Force, Brigadier General Sheikh Sulaiman Massaquoi, paid a courtesy call on Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, in Abuja on September 3, 2026. Massaquoi expressed ECOWAS's gratitude for Nigeria's leadership and support for regional peace and security. He also sought continued support from the Armed Forces of Nigeria for the ECOWAS Standby Force and its establishment.
