Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has criticized former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar's proposal to restore petrol subsidy, describing it as a political strategy rather than an economic policy. Speaking on Arise TV, Fayemi compared the proposal to the All Progressives Congress's Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 general election, suggesting it is designed to appeal to Nigerians affected by subsidy removal. Atiku, who intends to contest the 2027 presidential election, had promised to bring back the subsidy if elected. Fayemi argued that such a move would not address the underlying economic challenges.
