Octogenarian remanded for allegedly attacking judge with cutlass

An 87-year-old man, Dauda Garba, has been remanded in a correctional facility after allegedly attacking an Area Court Judge with a machete in Adamawa State. The incident occurred on August 31, 2026, when the judge, Dauda Hamman, was presiding over a case involving Garba and another individual at Mayo-ine Area Court in Fufore Local Government Area. Garba reportedly became enraged during the proceedings and used a machete to inflict severe injuries on the judge's hand. The judge was taken to a hospital for treatment, and Garba, who admitted to the offence during his arraignment, expressed remorse and blamed the devil for his actions.
