Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), was prevented by youths from visiting Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. The youths blocked the Makurdi-Gboko Road, chanting 'Obi go back' and throwing stones, forcing Obi to return to the airport and leave the state. Obi had planned to make personal donations to victims of the June 13, 2025 armed herdsmen attack. The Benue State government stated it was not aware of Obi's visit.
