Elder statesman Chief Dan Ulasi has stated that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), is the only hope for the South-East ahead of the 2027 election. Ulasi alleged that the All Progressives Congress-led government has done nothing for the region. He made these remarks on AIT's Kakaaki programme, predicting that Obi could secure at least 90% of the votes in the region. Ulasi cited a feeling of exclusion among voters as the reason for this anticipated support.
