Hugging Face, a repository of open source models, is expanding into robotics with the launch of Microduck, a small robot that can walk and learn skills. The company has sold over 15,000 units, generating more than $6 million in sales. This move is part of Hugging Face's strategy to offer affordable robots built on open source AI. The company acquired Pollen Robotics in April 2025 to support this initiative.
