The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has declared a force majeure event on the 330kV Kainji-Birnin Kebbi transmission line following the collapse of transmission tower T367. The incident occurred after the line tripped at 10:44 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, and a trial reclosure attempt at 11:07 p.m. failed. TCN linesmen discovered the collapsed tower on Tuesday, and preliminary findings attribute the collapse to heavy winds and rainstorms. The incident has disrupted the transmission of bulk electricity along the corridor.
