The Federal Government has directed stakeholders and relevant agencies to develop a comprehensive operational roadmap for the nationwide rollout of the 112 national emergency number. A committee comprising the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Communications Commission, the National Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and other agencies has been constituted to finalize the roadmap and standard operating procedures. This move follows the National Economic Council's approval of 112 as Nigeria's single universal toll-free emergency number, intended to replace fragmented and slow response lines and improve citizen access to rapid help during emergencies.
