Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the appointment of Alhaji Aminu Atiku as the new Emir and Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi of the Zurmi Emirate Council. The appointment was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, following consultations and recommendations from the Kingmakers in line with tradition and state laws. The new monarch becomes the 21st Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi, succeeding Alhaji Bello Suleiman who passed away on August 31, 2026. Atiku, who holds the traditional title of Dangaladiman Zurmi, is the eldest son of the 19th Emir and previously served as Sole Administrator of the Zurmi Local Government Council.
