Outrage as Benue youths block Peter Obi from visiting Yelewata

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, was prevented by youths from visiting Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where he planned to make personal donations to victims of a recent armed herdsmen attack. The youths blocked the Makurdi-Gboko Road, chanting 'Obi go back'. The action drew condemnation from the NDC, its vice presidential candidate Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, human rights activist Deji Adeyanju, and the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), who described it as unacceptable. Obi expressed concern over the incident, while the Benue State government said it was not aware of his visit.
