The World Food Programme (WFP) is urging greater international support for populations affected by the Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), particularly hungry people in remote areas. WFP Country Director David Stevenson emphasized that Ebola is a health crisis but requires a comprehensive approach due to the region's conflict, food insecurity, and displacement. The current outbreak, caused by the rare Bundibugyo species, has recorded over 5,500 cases and 2,642 deaths in its first 100 days, making it the fastest on record.
