Captain Ruth Adeola Adebanwo, a female pilot with Ibom Air, has become the first woman to fly a new aircraft into Nigeria. She piloted a brand new Airbus A220-300 from the Airbus Mirabel factory in Canada, landing at Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo on September 1, 2026. The aircraft is part of a fleet expansion that includes 39 new planes for the airline.
