Ex-Chelsea owner Abramovich loses third attempt to overturn EU sanctions

The EU's General Court has rejected Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich's third attempt to overturn sanctions imposed on him in 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The court ruled that Abramovich was listed legally due to his stakes in metals companies Evraz and Norilsk Nickel, which provide substantial revenue to the Russian government. Abramovich, who previously had two cases rejected in 2023 and 2025, is among numerous Russian businessmen challenging EU sanctions.
