Courtois to put Belgium career on hold

Thibaut Courtois has announced he will not play for Belgium until September 2027, effectively putting his international career on hold. The 34-year-old goalkeeper, who has 115 caps, will miss the upcoming Nations League campaign under new coach Mark Van Bommel. Van Bommel had informed Courtois that he could not guarantee him the starting goalkeeper position. Courtois stated that he could be called up exceptionally if the national team faces injury problems.
