Ovie Omo-Agege, the NDC candidate for Delta Central Senatorial District, has called for an investigation into the blockade of Peter Obi's visit to Yelwata community in Benue State. Omo-Agege urged authorities to establish who organized and financed the blockade, calling it a new low in Nigeria's political culture. He described the incident as a national disgrace and a test of the country's commitment to democratic freedoms. Obi had traveled to Yelwata to mourn with residents who lost over 270 members of their community to violence.
