Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has ordered immediate mobilization of contractors to all three sections of the Benin-Asaba Road, stating that public interest must override the existing concession agreement. The minister said the road's condition had deteriorated to a point where contractual constraints could not hinder urgent government intervention. He noted that during a recent visit, contractors were directed to prepare for palliative works, but the concessionaire's consent was required and not granted. Umahi presented three options to address the situation, emphasizing the need for emergency repairs.
