Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has stated that Nollywood producers might abandon YouTube as a distribution platform if the Naira strengthens significantly against the U.S. Dollar. He made this remark during an interview on the Nidacity Podcast with former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun. Afolayan explained that the financial incentive is a major reason filmmakers migrate to YouTube, but platforms like Netflix and Prime Video offer better opportunities. He noted that YouTube is flexible but cannot match the benefits of other streaming services.
