Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared a 'small state of emergency' on waste management to tackle challenges in refuse collection and disposal. He made the declaration during an inspection of the Olusosun dumpsite in Ojota, accompanied by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab. The governor noted that the state has recently experienced pressure on waste collection, leading to indiscriminate dumping in various parts of the metropolis. The inspection aimed to identify immediate challenges and develop short, medium, and long-term solutions.
