The Association of Igbo Town Unions (ASITU) has condemned the reported attack on the convoy of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Coalition, in Benue State. ASITU warned that such incidents could signal the possibility of violence during the 2027 general elections. The attack reportedly occurred on the Makurdi-Gboko road while Obi was traveling to sympathize with victims of recent attacks. ASITU also noted previous attacks on Obi during a visit to Benin City and urged authorities to act swiftly to prevent further incidents.
