The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has begun implementing a technology-driven system to enforce Type Approval requirements for SIM-enabled devices. The Device Management System (DMS) will automatically determine the compliance status of devices imported, sold, and used in Nigeria. According to a statement by NCC's Director of Public Affairs, Nnenna Ukoha, the system will improve oversight, strengthen compliance with technical standards, and enhance network performance. The initiative aims to block unapproved devices from accessing networks.
