The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has raised concerns over the disparity between women's participation as voters and their representation in elective offices. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan noted that women accounted for the majority of new registrants in the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration, but their numerical strength has not translated into political leadership. The Commission urged political parties to provide greater support for female candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
