At least 24 people have died and several others have been hospitalized in Araromi Obu and Odigbo towns in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State following suspected food poisoning. The incident, which occurred last weekend, is believed to be linked to the consumption of sachet herbal concoctions containing poisonous substances. Eight deaths were recorded in Araromi Obu, while 16 were recorded in Odigbo town. Youths in the affected communities protested the deaths, marching to the palace of the traditional ruler, Oba Rufus Akinrinmade, to demand urgent action. The traditional ruler appealed for calm and assured the community that measures would be taken to prevent further loss of lives.
