Sierra Leone's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, led a government delegation to a national funeral ceremony in Conakry on 4 September 2026, honouring 17 Sierra Leonean nationals among 36 confirmed fatalities from the Dar-es-Salam landfill collapse. The funeral service was held at the Turkish Mosque in Bambéto district, followed by interment at Martyrs Cemetery. The delegation included the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Minister of Social Welfare, the Presidential Spokesperson, and the Director General of the National Disaster Management Agency. The Guinean Authority observed a National Day of Mourning, with senior officials and bereaved families in attendance.
